Balmuri falls is an artificial cascade made by human beings to slow down the flow of river Kavery, which is 6 feet tall dam, lengthy and curve in Nature in which you can walk over the dam in flowing water at Ankle feet height feels like a complete foot massage.

The term Balmuri is a Kannada word which refers to Lord Ganesha with his trunk facing the right side, similarly, another word Edamuri falls is also referred to Lord Ganesha with his trunk facing left site according to Hindu mythology.

Lord Ganesha truck is directed towards the right side in the temple at Balmuri Falls which means the river is being diverted towards the right side, therefore, the term Balmuri refers to ‘Right side diversion’ in Kannada Langauge, Similarly after flowing 1 KM downstream another waterfall appears which is called as Edmuri which refers to Left diversion of R.
